INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH SOLAR. In Pleasanton, California, the largest
commercial-use rooftop solar power plant in the Americas is now being
built at the Pleasanton PowerPark. The solar power plant is designed to
be part of a clean, renewable and reliable distributed power source for
tenants in the industrial park. Power will be offered at rates
lower-than-grid. PowerPark developer INTERGY has contracted Edison
Development Corporation to install 340 kilowatts of photovoltaic panel
capacity atop three 30,000 square foot buildings at the 250,000 square
foot park. Edison Development is a subsidiary of DTE Energy. Visit DTE

GOOD CORPORATE CITIZENS. MCI WorldCom has announced that it will
purchase 100% renewable power from Cleen 'n Green Energy for its own
corporate accounts in deregulated California. Cleen 'n Green power comes
only from wind, biomass or geothermal sources. Last year the brand won
praise from the Public Citizen organization as one that actually made a
difference to the environment. Visit Cleen 'n Green at

WIND PROSPECTS ARGENTINA. Wind turbine manufacturer NEG Micron
estimates that Patagonia on the southern tip of the nation has
exceptional conditions for wind energy. According to the company, the
region has the potential for 3000 megawatts which could be installed
over the next ten years. NEG would, of course, like to provide those
wind generators. The company already has 22 turbines in the country.

CERTIFIED TECHNOLOGY. Businesses, governments and consumers need
some assurance that a new technology is safe and durable. Government or
independent testing can be used to quell purchaser's concerns.
Advanced Vehicle Systems (AVS) has announced that its AVS-22
electric bus has just passed rigorous testing at a U.S. federal
facility. The 22 foot bus went through testing which simulated several
years of revenue service. During the entire simulation the bus required
unscheduled service only five times for a total of 4 1/2 hours of
repairs. AVS has sold over 90 electric and hybrid-electric buses in the
U.S.
Co-power for AVS hybrid buses comes from Capstone MicroTurbines. The
MicroTurbine Model 330 has just received a safety certification from
Underwriters Laboratory. The UL listing ensures that the product is
reasonably free from the foreseeable risks of fire, electric shock and
other related hazards. Visit AVS at http://www.avsbus.com/ and Capstone

ELECTRIC MOTOR DRIVE. Whatever type of vehicle that could eventually
replace the current fleet it's almost certain to have an electric motor
driving the wheels.
Borealis Motor Manufacturing has announced that its Chorus (tm)
motor has tested at a continuous torque at least 30% greater than
comparable inverter-based AC motors and has peak torque at least three
times as high. The Chorus Technology uses novel windings and electronics
to harness harmonic waveforms to produce the significant improvements in
performance. The motor is being developed for stationary and vehicular
applications and the company is seeking partners for commercialization.
